“Thank you Thank you Thank you. We are thrilled with the results, you have captured our special day so perfectly. Compared to the other photographers we met you were more passionate and more reasonably priced. We have no hesitation in recommending you as the best value photographer in Cape Town! |

| What Style Am I looking For? |
| |
• Formal / Classic approach
This approach is conservative, with carefully planned images and portraiture. It is timeless - trends seem always to return for a season to the formal/ classic style. This approach means that the photographer does much of the directing of the event.
Each image takes slightly longer to arrange because of the need to compose to the finest detail. This means that there will be fewer images to choose from. |
| Advantages are: |
• Many of the images can be planned before the day
• Some of older, more conservative members of the family may approve.
|
| If this is the style you wish to achieve, we recommend that you hire a stylist for the whole wedding for the best results. |

• Photojournalism approach
This is a documentary approach to weddings, with storytelling a central element. The approach unashamedly tells the story of the wedding from beginning to end, and relates the story behind the story, focussing on the reality of the event: the tensions and the joys as well as the celebrations.
Black and white is often used to highlight the dramatic and creative aspects.
Take care that the photographer is not in this for his own awards and achievement and that your wedding record comes before photojournalistic creativity. |

• The Creative Approach
The Creative Approach examines the unusual aspects of the day, emphasising expressions and actions that may be out of the ordinary: the awkward silence, the look of frustration on the face of the bride (or conversely the look of absolute delight). It attempts to “look into the souls” of the bridal couple, family and guests.
While this may be very gratifying to artists and couples and seeking a meaning that goes deeper than just the event, it has its ‘downside’. It is often focussed on the whims of the photographer and can be highly specialised. Close family and guests may wonder what the photographer was up to (or even be embarrassed by being caught unawares by the camera).
Remember : no matter how brilliantly, the record of the event has been interpreted through the eyes of another. |

• Mercer’s Approach
Every approach has its strengths and its weaknesses. Mercer’s attempts to strike a balance between all three approaches, and provide the bride and groom with a range of styles that will suit their tastes. In this digital age, one can now take literally hundreds of photographs, and this means that there will be a range of styles to suit most tastes.
So then, you don’t have the stress! Having said that, we need to discuss your individual tastes and the style you most enjoy and we will be aware of that on the day |
